Now here is a woman who knows how to communicate and give proper directions. I've been to cake decorating classes that were not a clear and through as this woman is. From collecting supplies, to baking the cake and the final decorating, nothing is left to chance. I wish I had this book when I was attempting to make decorated birthday cakes for my children. A lot of disasters could have been avoided if I'd had this book in hand.If you've never decorated a cake before, this is the book for you. You'll get off on the right start and I know you'll have great results if you just follow the directions. Large clear photos add to the directions and keep you on the right track. This will make a great series of cake decorating books. I hope she continues along this line.

Used to be you would have to take a class to learn how to make a cake like this but this author makes it super easy. While it isn't exactly a 5 minute cake (the good ones never are) the easy to follow, step by step instructions provided would allow for almost anyone to be able to create this adorable little cake!
Ladybug on a Daisy Cake is so thorough it makes me believe even I could do it. I loved the way the author used pictures and written explanations to move us along the path to success.
Her simple, concise words and excellent follow-up photos will bring me back to this book when the grand kids show up for a birthday. What a special way to say I Love You!

I want to start by saying THIS WAS THE FIRST CAKE I'VE EVER DONE RIGHT! I wanted to make the perfect birthday cake, but I'm kind of a menace in the kitchen. This book not only shows you how to make, bake and decorate, it's like a how-to-do-everything book. There are pictures for just about everything so you can't get lost.
I'm so grateful about the instructions on using a piping bag. If you want to make ANY cake beautiful, get this book for those directions alone.

This is a great step by step cake decorating guidebook. The written directions are clear and easy to follow. There are pictures of each step to further clarify what to do. With this book, even I can look like a professional cake decorator and impress by family and friends. I'm really glad I purchased it. So if you are looking for a really good introduction to cake decorating, start with this one. Thanks Kathryn for putting this book together.
This is a well thought out guide for a beginner to get hooked on cake decorating, however would have liked being more descriptive of milk types as whole milk , 2%,etc as well as sugar what is icing sugar? Is it 10x or ?? Love the photos and step by step!
Kathryn Dollsen has done a GREAT job of putting together this "how to" recipe book for her Ladybug on a Daisy Cake.
Not only is the cake adorable, but she takes you through, literally step by step, including exactly what equipment you'll need and where you can go to get it.
She provides loads of pictures to help you know you're on the right track and instills confidence effectively for making this cake (and for continuing your cake decorating journey down the track!).
Definitely recommended.

I was a little afraid in the very beginning as I wasn't sure if I was able to make such a professionally-looking cake.
